I moved to Decatur, Ga. for three months at the end of 2003 to work as an editorial intern for Paste magazine. Editor Josh Jackson & co. introduced me to the Brick Store Pub, a magical place full of beers and ales I’d never heard of (not to mention a delightful salad with golden raisins, but let’s pretend I didn’t just say that for the sake of what’s left of my masculinity). McChouffe was and is one of my favorite beers because of Brick Store, and here Josh describes it and nine other worthy malty dark beers. Trust the man.
