This is a shot from what the San Francisco local TV is simultaneously describing as an aggressive and frightening demonstration in Oakland.

Our local news was a fear-mongering horrorturd tonight. People in the Bay Area will protest a moldy pickle.

Comparatively speaking this wasn’t that huge of a deal, even given the Foot Locker looting tonight. I’ve seen much bigger, and much more destructive protests. Sometimes about issues that neither I as a reporter, nor the protesters themselves could fully explain. (Reclaim the Streets, anyone?) 

But the local news decided to go with the OMG RIOT RIOT EVERYBODY PANIC angle and so that’s what we got. 

I miss Dennis Richmond.

Oh, if only we had Dennis Richmond here to set everybody straight.
